Longing For You (Poem)

Longing For You

He makes me laugh;
something I forgot to do
all the days I spent with you.
Too busy crying.
I fought so hard
just to be there by your side.
Now, I hardly even try.
More satisfying
when the one you’re with
gives back part of himself.
So, I can’t understand
why I find myself…..

Longing for you.
Admit, it’s true,
and I don’t want
this thing to be.
But, I still find
you on my mind.
No, he can’t kill
your memory.
He wants more
that you ever did.
I feel like such a fool
longing for you.

He makes me smile,
says the things you never could,
gives the love you never would.
He adores me.
I just can’t stand
how I lie awake at night.
I know that it isn't right
to feel this need.
And I hate how much
I still want your caress.
He gives me all I ask for
but I still find myself….

Longing for you.
Admit, it’s true,
and I don’t want
this thing to be.
But, I still find
you on my mind.
No, he can’t kill
your memory.
He wants me more
than you ever did.
I feel like such a fool
longing for you.
